The authors investigated the potentially toxic effect of different gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) in combination with 7-T MRI. By isolating and exposing lymphocytes analogously to iodinated contrast agents in combination with computed tomography, they found no damage to DNA or induction of γH2AX foci.
